America's
Self-Made Man
[ send
me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing just what the American Dream is.
It has nearly always been measured in terms of wealth, but
not necessarily in terms of dollars. The self-made man of
Ben Franklin's time was not a success only in terms of
money, but in terms of life. Money was the reward-not the
goal. The American Dream is still alive, but it has been
replaced in the eyes of many by a sham, by that
counterfeit that says that money is the only true measure
of the worth of a man. The pity is that money can be lost;
character remains. Those with little character but great
sums can completely lose themselves when the money is
lost. Bibliography lists 1 source.
