Utopia
[ send
me this paper ]
Utopias, in the current vernacular, are the consequences
of the industrial society's actions, a loss of hope in
considering the future as created by the present.
Sustainable living patterns have become the catchwords for
the re-establishment of a state of community based on open
dialogue, consensus and an economy of individual effort
toward community interaction and health. There exists an
emerging definition of political (personal, social,
physical, cultural, spiritual and economic) action based
on the connections between like minded individuals
evolving in order to construct place and to propose
creative ways of thinking about contemporary landscapes
and futures. This 7 page paper integrates historical views
of Utopias with the goals of a proposed utopia called New
Miracles. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Aldous
Huxley's "Brave New World": Truth And Beauty,
Comfort And Happiness
[ send
me this paper ]
6 pages in length. In Chapters XVI and XVII of "Brave
New World", Mustapha Mond and John the Savage debate
the meaning of life. Mond asserts that Ford did a great
deal to shift the emphasis from the truth and beauty to
comfort and happiness. John the Savage prefers truth and
beauty. Indeed, while truth and beauty represent the very
foundation of existence, comfort and happiness is what
humanity has chosen to pursue over and above anything
else. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Disneyland:
Prototype Of The Ideal City?
[ send
me this paper ]
12 pages in length. Imagine a community with no crime, no
disrepair, no unhappy residents, where there is always a
sense of contentment and camaraderie floating in the air.
Every citizen upholds neighborhood aesthetics under
obligation of town code, and each person maintains a
defined responsibility in preserving this Utopian setting.
This community is not a democracy, but residents do not
seem to mind that their every decision is founded upon
autocracy. Is this the description of yet another backward
European country? No, this is the setting for one of the
world's most beloved communities where everything appears
perfectly Utopian: Disneyland. No individuality, no
originality, no independence. Bibliography lists 12
sources.
